How Do You Make An Indoor Waterpark Sustainable?

Did you know that the Waterworld Leisure Resort generates up to 80% of it’s electricity demand on site now? A well-optimised fuel mix of renewable Solar energy and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generation does just that for us!

As an operator of a large visitor attraction, which maintains 30-degree temperatures all year round, we feel both morally and commercially conscious about our energy use. We’re committed to continuing to reduce our consumption and environmental impact now and in the future.

So if you’re an environmentally-conscious visitor, you may also be interested to know that we have recently installed a liquid pool cover system, which retains pool water heat outside of operating hours and has helped reduce our gas consumption by an average of 20% over the winter months of 2024!

You can read more about our many sustainable projects on our web page below, which also has a neat iframe that tells our visitors how much Solar energy we’re generating on site each day (updates every hour)…

Ps… M Club Newcastle is next on the Solar list!
